Mermaid tail for 18" doll: pattern!




 Mermaid Tail:
BERNAT SATIN OMBRE (worsted weight yarn); approx. 130 yards
G hook

Skirt:

(Ch 3 counts as first DC in each row. This means that you'll always skip the first dc in the row, and that the ch 3 counts as a st in the st counts.)

ch 50. join to make a circle.
Row 1 – 5: ch 3, dc in ea. Join to top of ch 3. (50 st)
Row 6: ch 3. dc in next 4 st. dc 2 together. *Dc in next 5 st. dc2tog. Repeat from * around. Dc in last dc. Join.
Row 7-16: ch 3, dc in ea. Join to top of ch 3. (43 st)
row 17: ch 3. dc in next 3 st. dc 2 together. *Dc in next 4 st. dc2tog. Repeat from * around. Join
row 18 - 20:ch 3, dc in ea. Join to top of ch 3. (35 st)
row 21: ch 3. dc in next 2 st. dc 2 together. *Dc in next 3 st. dc2tog. Repeat from * around. Join
row 22:ch 3, dc in ea. Join to top of ch 3. (29 st)
row 23: ch 3. dc in next st. dc 2 together. *Dc in next 2 st. dc2tog. Repeat from * around. Join
row 24: ch 3. dc 2 together. *Dc in next st. dc2tog. Repeat from * around. . Join
row 25: ch 3. dc 2 together around. Sk last st.
row 26: ch 3. dc around (6 st)

Make a long chain or use a ribbon as a drawstring, through stitches in row 1.


Fins (make 2): (Do not count ch 2 as a stitch in any row.)
Ch 23
R1: dc in 3rd ch from hook, Dc across
R2: Ch 2, sk first dc, dc2tog, dc across
R3: Ch 2, dc in first dc, dc across
R4: Ch 2, sk first dc, dc2tog, dc across
R5: Ch 2, dc in first dc, dc across
R6: Ch 2, sk first dc, dc2tog, dc across
Fasten off

Sew fins together at row 6, to 1 or 2 inches from bottom (decrease edge). 

 Fold top edges around bottom of skirt and sew together.
